Backstage: Metal Gear From Twelve South: BookArc MacBook Stand and BackPack Monitor Shelf (iLounge)

Though we’re sent quite a few Mac accessories for possible coverage, the only ones that really interest us these days are designs that offer something really new and interesting—that’s the reason some of Twelve South’s new products have caught our attention. BookArc ($50) is a stylish curved laptop stand designed to match Apple’s MacBook Pros and Cinema Displays, holding the computer upright ...

One Night in New York: Peace, Quiet and Cupcakes

There’s more to New York than the top of the Empire State Building and Times Square. While both are iconic stops essential to any first trip to the Big Apple, New York is more than bright lights and a big city. New York is a symbol of strength. It represents independence, freedom, sexuality, sensuality and self-exploration so it stands to reason that New York is also the perfect location for a single woman to spend the night. Every woman has her ‘thing’ – that one gesture or moment that stea

How to Kill the Apple Brand with a Single Keyword: Movistar

As you may have noticed, I didn’t put together a blog post over here in this blog yesterday, even though it was one of those days… I actually have a couple of draft entries I’m hoping to be sharing shortly, but the main reason why I didn’t blog was because I needed to apply one of my all-time blogging principles: don’t blog if you’re upset about something. Is not worth the trouble. So, instead, I decided to take it easy and unwind for the rest of the evening, pondering how I may be able to put

The Problem With Success

Apple hosted their Rock & Roll Event on Wednesday rolling out new features for the iPod Nano (a camera) as well as huge price cuts on the entire line of iPods including the popular iPod Touch (which can now be picked up for less than $200). In spite of those announcements and the return of Apple CEO Steve Jobs, Apple’s stock fell $1.79 by the end of the day on Wednesday. The reason? Disappointment that the company “did not add as many new features as some analysts predicted.”

Walkman outsells iPod in Japan for first time in four years… but iPhone sales don’t count

As with most accomplishments these days, we can't help but place a rather large asterisk next to Sony's award for managing to outsell the iPod lineup with its Walkman . According to Tokyo-based research firm BCN Inc., for the week ending August 30th, the Walkman series had a 43 percent share of the personal music player market versus 42.1 percent for iPods, marking the first time in four years that Sony's managed to get the upper hand. Got that? Good, now for a major caveat. For whatever reason

Feeling Nostalgic For Uh, 2001? 5GB iPod Available

For some reason, you can now purchase a 5GB iPod – white with a physical scroll wheel, black and white screen, and four buttons – for $129 at the Apple store . If my memory serves correctly, this model came out around 2001, when Web 1.0 .com was imploding. I hazily recall sitting in a cubicle with a blue G3 Mac still running OS 9, reading about this iPod thing and wondering if Apple had lost its marbles getting into the MP3 business. I won’t be getting this iPod, but it does have me wishing

Too Big to Fail or Nowhere to Go But Down? 5 Companies That Dominate

Today’s news that Apple sells almost 70 percent of songs online had us wondering about other industry giants. Some companies, whether because they make a great product, or were first to a particular industry, or some other reason entirely, make goods that manage to secure a massive amount of market share. Hit products that grab more than half of their market are very rare, and only occasionally can they hold onto that share over a long period of time. Whether these companies are monopolistic

Apple Products that failed

It seems that every product that Steve Jobs touches turns to gold right? iMacs, Macbooks, iPods, now iPhones… the guy is a genius! But it seems not “every” product. Here is a list of 10 products by Apple that for one reason or another failed . What this tells us? It tells that as a person and entrepreneur you should never stop growing, learning, launching new products and projects. Don’t be discouraged by the first fail, instead learn from it and do something new, better! Learn from Stev
